🌞 Summertime Blues 🌞

I don' know what it is about summer. I look forward to it all winter long. When it finally arrives, so do those pesky summertime blues. I don't know about you, but I get restless. I figured I'd use this energy to revisit some of my previous releases and do a little tweaking. Nothing major just some edits I've been meaning to take care of and some formatting issues I want to update.

Also, I've recently started a newsletter. If you'd like to subscribe, here is the link. Thank you in advance. It's just away of keeping my readers informed first of sales, and upcoming releases. If you would like to subscribe, click on this LINK http://eepurl.com/bZj3Kr

Please visit my blog, too. I've got on-going interactive character interviews featuring Falquen, Gray, Darien and Jesse from These Bones Series. Check it out here: http://stickshiftlips.com/theblog/?p=842

In the near future, you can expect similar style interviews with the loveable characters from House of Goths.

Ciao for now!

House of Goths by Maria Bernard
New Adult • College • Rock Star Romance
Not Your Average Fraternity House σΎ –

Three #Goths, 1 #Steampunk, 1 Mundane Girl... Sharing a #FratHouse? It's about hope, trust, kindness, and faith in humanity.

Synopsis: All Becky wants is a nice place to live…
Becky Sparks refuses to spend her college years in a cold, lonely dorm. Bassist Kelley Keele is a gorgeous Goth with a dark past. He resides at what he and his bandmates, Crispin, and Dorian, refer to as the House of Goths. Thrown together by fate, Becky forms an instant bond with Kell. Desperate for a home, she shows up unannounced on his front porch, suitcase in hand. Do they take her in or turn her away?

•°°• Excerpt •°°•

“Sorry about last week, Becky,” he said with a sorrowful frown.

“For what exactly?” she asked, slightly taken aback. If anything, she should be apologizing to him for being such a burden. Even though she knew that Kelley had been her primary caregiver, Dorian was never too far behind. Often bringing her tea, water, and tissues.

He looked guiltily at her as though he’d done something unforgivable. “For what I said last week, about you being a girl. As if that should be enough reason to not welcome you here.”

“Oh… that’s all right,” she said with a tiny shrug.
It wasn’t really okay, though. It had hurt her feelings at the time. Not to mention the fact that none of them had stuck up for her, not even Kelley. It wasn’t her fault that she was female. She’d been simply hoping for a place to live with people that were kind and respectful.

“No, it’s not,” he said with remorse. “I made it sound as if you wouldn’t be safe here. That’s the furthest thing from the truth. In fact, Becky, you’ll never be safer than here with us… with me.”

The Balcony by Maria Bernard
Rock n' Roll Heaven’s Unforgettable Rockstar Romance!

In this tale of loss and redemption, Emma is at her wits end. She has just moved into her first apartment in the Hollywood Hills. Unfortunately, her intimidating neighbors are more than she bargained for. Especially since her balcony, the reason she rents the place, is right next to theirs.

Wallowing in self-pity, soul-destroyed rocker, Wraith, is at the end of his rope. The last thing he needs is a sexy new neighbor, distracting him. But Emma is irresistible. Her presence is undeniable.

When his flirtatious bandmates get out of hand, will Wraith finally step in? Or will he do nothing, much like he’s done with his life these last two years? Will he be the hero Emma needs? Or is there more to this situation than meets the eye?

An excerpt from The Balcony...

“Um, I just wanted to apologize for upsetting you like that. I guess I can be a bit of a cry baby,” she admitted. “I was just so overwhelmed with all that information about fake deaths and ghosts. I guess I kind of lost it.”

“You’re not going to cry now, are you?” he asked cautiously.

“Of course not.”

Phantom, what a strange being he was, she thought, looking him over. She smiled awkwardly, remembering how much he’d frightened her at first. Now, even though he appeared just as freaky as before, with his shadowy gray eyes, so tall and thin, dressed in charcoal jeans and a ratty old t-shirt, he scared her less.

“Then you won’t mind if I visit?” he asked, stealthily hopping up onto the rail, balancing himself between balconies.

“Phantom, be careful!” she gasped nervously as he teetered on the edge.

“Just kidding,” he quirked, hopping down in front of her. “But I like it that you care.”

“Of course, I care!” she said, shaking her head at him. “I don’t want you to fall.”

“I won’t fall, Emma,” he said pensively while petting a petal of her daisies. “These are very pretty,” he said, studying the large flowers.

“They’re my favorite. They come in so many colors,” she said as she proceeded to fill the flowers boxes with earth.

“They’ll be my favorite too from now on,” he said, watching her work, her face aglow in the moonlight.

“I’ll put the orange ones on the outside and the yellow ones in between,” she explained, holding out her hand. “Would you pass me that spade, please?”

“This little shovel?” he asked, carefully dropping it in her outstretched hand.

“Thanks, now I’ll just cover them up with some earth.”

Smitten, Phantom watched her every move with great interest.

“What do you think?” she asked, stepping aside.

“Beautiful… and the flowers aren’t bad either,” he said, gazing into her eyes.

Unforgettable rockstar romance! σΎ –

Author's Note* - If someone were to ask me to only share one book with the world, it would be this one. I'm just saying... Besides, these rockers won't let me forget...
